Speaker: Dr. Kristen Wickert
Program: "Fungi as Plant Pathogens"
We are all familiar with the macroscopic beautiful mushrooms we experience on our hikes and forays. However, there are other microscopic fungi that inhabit our forests that perhaps play a more influential role than the boletes and chanterelles we know and love. Fungal plant pathogens are an incredible driver of forest succession and can impact human trade, livelihoods and general ecological function. During her talk, Dr. Kristen Wickert, will address what a fungal plant pathogen is with a few examples and share how you can contribute to the spread or containment of these forest diseases.
